I
don’t know if it’s a human nature, or cultural habit or even psychological
disease, and it doesn’t matter where has it came from, as long as I’m not
looking for eliminating it more than identifying it. I’ve been looking for a
name to describe such a phenomena so long and I didn’t find more appropriate than
Future-Phobia.
2
days ago, I entered to a mosque to pray the sunset time, and I came across a
man of who looks a bit old, and if I was asked to guess his age, I would say
more than 60 years old, as his hair was completely white, his back slightly
curved and his face shows a bunch of wrinkles, but what attracted me in this
man is the way he was looking for a place in the mosque, although the Islam
religion encourages people to stand in the front rows, this man wasn’t
interested in getting additional rewards from God more than praying besides the
mosque’s gate. I’d been thinking why preferring such a place, and the only
scenario that fits with these circumstances is the hurry to leave the mosque.
On my return from God’s House, I kept analyzing this man’s acts, and I realize
that he wasn’t the only one who thinks about future more than the present,
almost everyone does. Several examples can support this statement, such as our
meal which consist to start with vegetables and keep the meat and dessert at
the end, ignoring the nutritionist’s opinions, or baby clothes which every
mother insists on buying them with one or two sizes extra so the baby can wear them
the longest he can, and it doesn’t matter how he would look like at the
beginning with clothes bigger than him. Another example that fits with this
phobia is the way that bunch of people park their car, they make a lot of
effort to park the car in reverse gear so they can take it out easily on their
return, but after all it wouldn’t take more effort and time if he did the
opposite.
I’m
really feed up on attempting to convince people that future doesn’t count as
much as the present does, because to view the present you just need the five
senses unlike the future, which needs to powers of God to be seen.
Few
years ago, I was watching a movie and suddenly a statement touched ma, a Man was
explaining the most resisting object, I was surprised to learn that it wasn’t the
VIH Virus, neither any type of metal, it was rather an Idea.
Once
an idea is inserted in the Brain, removing it becomes almost impossible, and
this slight chance to take it out from the brain requires a sharp strategy and
decades. And I guess that’s what pushes the mothers to not buy clothes that fit
with their babies’ size, rational arguments wouldn’t be enough to erase this idea,
which becomes almost a religious believing.
The
good thing I can learn from these folks is the way they’re attached to what
they believe in, and although the others see them mistaken, it doesn’t matter
as long as they’re very comfortable with their conviction, and this is
something that everyone needs to care about. So their influence on me is to
stick on what I see correct.
